As a result of an upcoming vacancy, Delta School District is seeking applications for the position of Acting Secondary Vice-Principal.

The District's mission is to inspire and nurture thriving, future-ready learners at each of its 31 schools, located in Ladner, North Delta, and Tsawwassen. Vice-Principals play an integral role as part of the District management team and of the school to which they are assigned. They are responsible for overall supervision and operation of their individual schools and also play an appropriate leadership role in District initiatives.
Expectations and responsibilities of Delta Principals include:
- Projecting a clear sense of direction consistent with the district vision
- Working to develop a Framework for Enhancing Student Learning based on the needs of the learners
- Participating actively in the planning, monitoring, and evaluation of the instructional program
- Demonstrating knowledge of curriculum, instruction and assessment
- Understanding child development as it pertains to learning
- Working with staff to build knowledge and expertise related to assessment strategies
- Establishing a safe, orderly environment that promotes teaching and learning
- Encouraging and providing support for the professional learning of staff and participating in a program of personal professional learning
- Keeping informed about current research, trends and practices in education
- Acting as a symbol of the school's culture through articulating and modeling goals and behaviours which signal to others what is of importance and value
- Demonstrating strong human relations and communication skills
- Developing positive and supportive relationships within an atmosphere of trust and mutual respect.
- Fostering supportive attitudes among community members including providing opportunities for members of the community to associate productively with the school's personnel and programs
- Planning and organizing school operations and routines, supervising a variety of personnel and students, and ensuring the effective management of the school property
Requirements:
- Minimum of five years exemplary teaching experience
- Masters degree in an area such as Leadership, Curriculum or Learning
Salary Range: $142,334 - $149,960
