The Lethbridge Police Service is seeking a full-time, permanent Information Technology Manager to provide leadership and strategic direction.


The Information Technology Manager will provide strategic direction and innovative leadership to the Information Technology Section. This role oversees the effective and efficient delivery of business technologies within the organization including the delivery of all software solutions, data, cybersecurity and resiliency practices. This role is also responsible to develop strategies, roadmaps and business plans to optimize project delivery, mitigate risk and ensure alignment to Lethbridge Police Service goals and objectives. The Information Technology Manager will plan, facilitate, coordinate and manage the operational activities of the IT department, drive innovation and ensure the security of the core infrastructure and systems.

The Opportunity:


  • Provide vision and leadership for developing and implementing IT initiatives;
  • Collaborate with executive management and decision makers within the police service, the corporation, and other external entities to identify, recommend, develop, implement and support cost effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization; and
  • Define and implement IT policies, procedures and best practices.

As the Information Technology Manager, you will:


  • Provide strategic direction and support for Information Technology solutions that enhance critical business systems for Lethbridge Police Service.
  • Support and lead a variety of information technology initiatives requiring strategic planning and forecasting.
  • Drive innovation and ensure the Lethbridge Police Service continues to mature its security posture and position.
  • Provide oversight in change management and lead information technology initiatives.
  • Provide day to day leadership and administration of the Information Technology Unit. This includes development, improvement and monitoring processes; managing and coordinating employee training; and developing and maintaining guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Lead the financial planning and effective management of Information Technology budgets and assets.
  • Ensure effective and responsive implementation of strategies that address customer needs and align to the LPS business plan

Your professional skillset and experience:


  • A University Degree or Diploma in the Computing Science Field or equivalent with extensive planning, managerial and technical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT management, including managing a team of IT professionals.
  • In depth understanding of IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, storage and security.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to lead and manage fiscal and human resources to ensure the effective use of those resources.
  • Ability to recognize priorities and changing approaches;
  • Strong leadership skills with an ability to coach, mentor and create a successful team through building capacity and encouraging staff to reach their potential.

SALARY: The annual salary range for this position is $135,154.50 - $168,928.50.

  • Duration of the process will be approximately two months

Facility dogs frequent many areas of our building. In addition, we have police service dogs. Our police service dogs have minimal interaction with employees on site under the supervision of a trained handler.
