Wood is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer in Edmonton, AB to join our busy and growing Oil & Gas Canada team due to growth in our business! This opportunity is hybrid.
The Role
This role will support electrical engineering design and execution across a variety of greenfield and brownfield projects. The Electrical Engineer will serve as Professional of Record on projects, prepare power system studies, and provide technical leadership for equipment specification, construction packages, and interdisciplinary coordination.

Responsibilities
Key responsibilities:
- Provide electrical engineering support for bio-based industrial projects
- Lead discipline scope on small projects and electrical packages on large projects
- Act as the electrical Professional of Record on assigned projects
- Coordinate design with other engineering disciplines
- Develop design deliverables including single lines, layouts, schematics, grounding, cable routing, and equipment specifications
- Prepare and conduct power system studies including arc flash, load flow, short circuit, and protection coordination
- Specify and evaluate major electrical equipment including switchgear, transformers, MCCs, VFDs, and motors
- Create construction packages, IFC drawings, material lists and estimates
- Identify scope and schedule changes and assist with change management
- Conduct checking and independent review of discipline work
- Provide mentorship to junior team members
- Support construction and commissioning activities as needed

Expected
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering
- Registered member of APEGA or other Canadian Association
- Minimum 5 to 10 years of experience required
- Electrical design experience
- Ability to work in a team environment, as well as strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Must possess strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Candidate must be proficient in high, medium, and low voltage power distribution design.
- Must be familiar with electrical safety and code compliance requirements.
