Your work environment at EXP
We are seeking a highly skilled and self-driven CAD Technologist with 3–5 years of experience in survey-based drafting and developing drawings from point cloud and geospatial data. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil or infrastructure projects and be proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, with hands-on experience integrating LiDAR and survey datasets. This role requires the ability to independently produce accurate CAD deliverables with minimal supervision from engineers and senior staff.

The salary range for this role is between $55K - $85K. The actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.

Your work environment at EXP
We are seeking a highly skilled and self-driven CAD Technologist with 3–5 years of experience in survey-based drafting and developing drawings from point cloud and geospatial data. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil or infrastructure projects and be proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, with hands-on experience integrating LiDAR and survey datasets. This role requires the ability to independently produce accurate CAD deliverables with minimal supervision from engineers and senior staff.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
- Prepare detailed topographic plans, base drawings, profiles, cross-sections, and diagrams derived from LiDAR and survey data
- Lead CAD drafting tasks for linear infrastructure and site projects, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project standards
- Extract features, surfaces, and linework from pointclouds and integrate into Civil 3D models Work with LiDAR processing outputs from various platforms
- Collaborate with Geomatics and engineering teams to translate scan data into constructible drawings
- Manage drawing production workflows and maintain consistent CAD standards across projects
- Perform quality control checks on drawings and coordinate revisions based on feedback
- Support design teams during proposal development and project execution phases
- Participate in coordination meetings and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Maintain organized drawing files and documentation for project records
- Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or related field
- 3–5 years of experience in CAD drafting for surveying, civil, or infrastructure projects Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is essential
- Experience drafting from survey data and/or point clouds
- Strong understanding of topographic survey drawings and construction documentation
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of CAD deliverables
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Experience coordinating with surveyors, engineers, project managers, and stakeholders
- Experience with point cloud processing and feature extraction, including Trimble Business Center
- Familiarity with GIS integration and data management
- Experience preparing tender and as-built drawings
- Understanding of survey control and accuracy requirements
- Experience with rail, utility, or corridor mapping projects
- Ability to streamline drafting workflows and contribute to CAD standards development
