The Asset Management & Training Superintendent brings a strong background in utility operations and takes initiative in adopting technology and improving processes. This role coordinates training programs, conducts onsite project inspections, supports workforce development, and serves as a key liaison between City Hall and Operations. The Superintendent ensures safety and regulatory compliance and represents Operations on the Occupational Health & Safety committee, ensuring we maintain a safe and efficient workplace.

The Superintendent ensures safety and regulatory compliance and represents Operations on the Occupational Health & Safety committee, ensuring we maintain a safe and efficient workplace.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide knowledge and support for underground utility infrastructure as and when needed.
- Perform onsite inspections for various Capital and new Development projects to ensure work meets all current safety and quality standards.
- Function as the main liaison for Operations to various internal and external stakeholders, keeping communication clear and priorities aligned.
- Provide leadership in advancing the department’s use of Maximo, identifying opportunities to improve asset data quality, strengthen preventive maintenance planning, and ensure system processes support operational and long term asset management goals.
- Operate the Learning Management System (LMS), including training records, course assignments, compliance tracking, and updates for all staff within the Engineering Operations department.
- Plan, schedule, and organize training programs, including day of logistics, materials, and communication with instructors and staff.
- Work closely with Operations leadership and colleagues on the development of training and project coordination.
- Contribute to internal Operations training, including refresher sessions and technical instruction.
- Support OH&S efforts, ensuring compliance with safety standards, reporting, and COR certification requirements.
- Participate in staff events, departmental initiatives, and team building activities to support a positive and engaged workplace culture.
- Provide required support during emergency response and extreme weather events, ensuring an effective and coordinated response.
- Utilize strong computer skills for documentation, reporting, and training system management.
- Take initiative in adopting new technologies and tools to improve efficiency and support continuous improvement.
- Strong background in utility operations.
- Experience in training coordination or operational leadership.
- Ability to manage projects, organize training, and support process improvements.
- Experience with asset management systems, with Maximo preferred.
- Familiarity with COR certification and requirements preferred.
- Strong computer proficiency with MS Office suite, including data entry, reporting, and LMS administration.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence (Province of British Columbia).
- RPAS certification, or the ability to obtain within an established time limit.
