Salary: $35.10 - $39.00 per hour (Pay Band 10B-CA)

About the Position:
The purpose of the Maintenance I - Plumber position is to provide plumbing services to the system.
Qualifications Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certification of Qualification – Plumbing
- Certificate to test back flow prevention devices
- Minimum 6 months experience
- Valid G-Level Driver's License
Note:
A Successful Functional Abilities Assessment must be completed prior to beginning the position, as a condition of employment.
Main Responsibilities:
- Installs, inspects, maintains and repairs drinking water treatment and backflow prevention equipment, performing routine inspection test procedures and testing for microbiological parameters in drinking water.
- Investigates, identifies and rectifies problems such as leaks, blockages, and inadequate supply or faulty operation of water, heating, sewer, gas and air lines.
- Plans, installs, repairs, replaces and maintains copper, steel, cast iron, plastic, glass and clay piping systems and plumbing fixtures.
- Rebuilds circulating pumps on the heating, cooling water distribution and fire standpipe systems.
- Assesses identifies and recommends makes recommendations to Supervisor’s assessment of items to be included in maintenance budgets for normal repair and energy conservation.
- Responds to emergency calls regarding water treatment equipment failures, plugged sewers, pipe ruptures and heating failures.
- Liaises with head custodians and principals and contractors in doing repairs and maintenance and meets with and monitors actions of contractors providing services to the Board. Maintenance I - Plumber
- Performs preventative maintenance on all plumbing systems and mechanical units as directed.
- Inventories supplies to stock the department.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor
Supervision:
This position does not supervise.
Working Conditions:
Primary work location will mainly be the Peterborough Shop located at the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board Education Office (1994 Fisher Drive, Peterborough), School and outdoor environment; change from indoor to outdoor temperatures; some pressure to meet deadlines; some exposure to fumes; moderate travel using Board/Employer vehicle throughout the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board. Primary work location may be discussed with Manager.
