The Mill Supervisor acts as the primary level of supervision on the operation floor and is responsible for overseeing the quality of the product and the safety of the team. This position collaborates with a wide variety of departments, oversees hourly operations team, and requires excellent employee relation skills.
What you can expect…
Ensuring ongoing safety of the mill and its personnel in accordance with safety guidelines
Safety incident investigation and critical incident response
Mill Supervisor leads the emergency response team in critical incident and acts as incident commander
Monitor environmental compliance, and collaborating with the environmental team on shift when it comes to non-compliance events and environmental incidents
Supervise hourly operations team throughout their shifts, approving overtime, and call-ins, etc.
Provide overall leadership to the hourly operations team, providing coaching and guidance as needed
Supervise the production process, inspect QA results, review target speeds, handle any breakdowns and troubleshooting as issues occur
Initiate escalation process in the event of significant downtime
Collaborate with Human Resources and Managers with regards to employee relation, performance management, and disciplinary measures
Build and maintain key relationships with departments across the mill and ensure efficient communications
Complete general record keeping such as shift reports, and any incident reports as required
What We Expect
- High school or College diploma with experience in industrial environment
- Experience in a Pulp and Paper mill is an asset
- Hazardous Material Emergency Response Awareness certification is required
- Management or strong leadership experience is considered an asset
- Strong sense of time management and quality control
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Proactive problem-solving skills and ability to make informed decisions in critical situations
- Proficiency with various computer programs, including Microsoft Office suite

The starting range for this role is $78,000-$104,000 or higher, depending on your experience.
