Reporting to the Manager, School College Partnerships, the incumbent develops and delivers courses in the Dual Credit program. The course is scheduled to be delivered during the day at the Orillia campus.
- Delivers the GNED1071- Indigenous People of Canada course in the Dual Credit program
Orillia Wednesdays 10:00 am – 1:00 pm February 11 to May 20 (excluding March 11)
- Develops and delivers appropriate curriculum to meet course objectives
- Incorporates a variety of teaching / learning strategies to meet student needs
- Evaluates student progress / achievement
- Participates in program and college activities as required
- Participates in program revisions and renewal activities as required
- Creates and maintains a positive learning environment
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Relevant postsecondary education (Diploma/Bachelors/Masters) in Indigenous Studies with a focus on history and Indigenous Culture
- Three years’ experience teaching and/or working within a relevant field
- Knowledge, understanding and lived practices in the Indigenous Way of Being
- Traditional knowledge, connection to and lived experience directly in community, and deep understanding and respect of Indigenous histories, traditions and cultures
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to life-long learning
- Computer literacy: MS Office along with a high comfort level with learning new software such as student learning management systems and various teaching delivery applications.
- Proven ability to work in a team environment and to foster the same in students
- Experience in some or all of the following is an asset: curriculum development, a variety of delivery strategies, adult learning methodologies, academic advising, and student success strategies
- Teaching and Training Adults certification and / or experience in a teaching or training capacity is an asset
- Experience teaching high school aged youth is an asset
- Indigenous meaning: First Nation, Metis, Inuit or Non-Status
Acceptable proof of education (degrees, credentials) from recognized post-secondary institutions or confirmation of international equivalencies will be required as part of the selection process.
