Recruiting Assistant at ALS

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for full cycle recruitment for Co-op Students including:
  • Coordinates business requirements for Co-op students for spring and fall terms;
  • Adheres to the policies, procedures and standards relating to recruitment ensuring consistency within ALS;
  • Updates interview guides for positions, keeping in mind skills, competencies and ALS culture;
  • Screens resumes, conducts telephone pre-screening, and assists with final selection;
  • Coordinates interviews with hiring managers;
  • Assists with referrals, requisitions, postings and reference checks;
  • Posts job vacancies on job boards and internal websites;
  • Promotes career opportunities through job fairs, partnerships, schools, communities, and resource groups;
  • Prepares offer letters and makes offers to candidates;
  • Tracks and collects new hire paperwork;
  • Administers student wage subsidy programs for Co-op programs;
  • Coordinates Co-op student engagement activities throughout the term;
  • Tracks and administers co-op student programs;
  • Assists in the response to routine calls & e-mails from candidates and co-op program representatives;
  • Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • French communication skills, both written and verbal are preferred;
  • Familiarity with provincial Employment standards and regulations;
  • Strong customer service focus, interpersonal and organizational abilities;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality;
  • Demonstrated judgement, creativity, integrity and ability to problem solve;
  • Advanced computer skills including MS Word and Excel;
  • Ability to effectively handle escalations and time critical issues.

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of 1st year business or Human Resources courses required;
  • Completion of business courses in Human Resources an asset.

Physical Demands:

  • Work on-site 5 days a week;
  • Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities;
  • Ability to use and view a computer screen for up to 8 hours per day;
  • Ability to communicate via telephone and e-mail without assistance.
