Reporting to the Senior Plant Manager, the Plant Manager will be responsible for Managing the responsible area, by ensuring that all aspects of production, food safety and quality are met. Sets goals and objectives for this area.
Shift: Mon - Fri - 6:00 am – 3:00 pm. (Ability to work overtime/ at flexible times is required)

- Manages the responsible area (all shifts), by ensuring that all aspects of production, food safety and quality are met.
- Ensures all aspects of the operation are followed and enforced (e.g. safety, quality, yield, , union issues, HACCP, BRC, etc.) on a daily basis, and that all Supervisors are following established guidelines and expectations on productivity, quality, and safety.
- Liaise with other departments to ensure all plant expectations are met.
- Ensures that all products manufactured in the department meet the company and customer requirements.
- Participates or assigns an employee when new products are developed, and during plant trials.
- Provides overall management of a team or business area and includes management of individuals indirectly through subordinate supervisors or managers.
- Establish goals and priorities and manage the activities and work of subordinates Evaluate their performance by providing formal and informal feedback to ensure that all work within a specific area is carried out in an efficient manner and in accordance.
- Develop team capabilities through continued on-the-job and formal training opportunities and coaching.
- Monitor the operational performance of area of responsibility against approved labor variance targets so that areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified, and potential performance improvement opportunities are improved.
- Minimum three years of Supervisory / Management experience in a food manufacturing industry, preferably meat, and in a unionized environment.
- Working knowledge of food and meat plant regulatory standards (CFIA, etc.), GMP, HACCP, BRC, food safety, food quality, etc.
- Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), WHMIS, and all other workplace H&S regulations.
- Analytical, with problem-identification and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work / excel in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and effective multi-tasking is essential.
- General Computer Skills (e.g. MS Office)
- Post -Secondary Diploma in a related field required.
