About the Position

The Chilliwack School District is seeking a proactive, service-oriented Human Resources Coordinator to join our innovative team. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources and working closely with our Human Resources Managers, our Human Resources Coordinator will play a crucial role in coordination and administrative support across HR functions, primarily within the recruitment of casual support staff and teachers teaching on call (TTOC).

The successful candidate will lead high-volume recruitment, onboarding, and casual staffing processes year- round. Outside of peak recruitment periods, the HR Coordinator will also support broader HR functions, including disability management, leave management, HR programs, and confidential labour relations administration, as part of a flexible, collaborative approach to departmental needs.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment and onboarding for casual support staff, including posting, screening, interviewing, reference checking, offers, and orientation.
  • Provide support to the HR Manager for full-cycle recruitment and onboarding for Teachers Teaching on Call, including posting, screening, scheduling interviewing, reference checking, offers, and orientation.
  • Maintain applicant pipelines, recruitment systems, documentation, and reporting to support efficient hiring and staffing at school sites.
  • Support HR Managers with casual deployment to schools and sites.
  • Represent the District at career fairs and community recruitment events and support practicum and work- experience pathways.
  • During non-peak recruitment periods, provide flexible support across broader HR functions, including disability management coordination, routine leave administration, confidential labour relations administration, staffing and allocation support and attendance support processess.
  • Maintain confidential HR records, correspondence, and data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with collective agreements, legislation, and District practices.
  • Provide confidential administrative support to HR Managers, including research, documentation, and preparation of reports.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma or certificate in Human Resources Management or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years recent, progressive human resources or administrative experience.
  • Experience in a school district or public sector, preferably in an excluded role working with unionized employees.
  • Demonstrated understanding of HR fundamentals, especially large-volume recruitment and selection processes.
  • Knowledgeable about HR legislative requirements and current employment/labour law in the BC public sector.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Power Point).
  • Skills in various information technological practices for efficient tracking, reporting, and organization.
  • Proficient in HRIS or similar information systems for maintaining automated records.
  • Previous experience in talent acquisition strategy and full-cycle professional / public sector recruitment is an asset.
