Seafood Cutter at T&T Supermarket
Company Introduction: T&T Supermarket Inc. was founded in 1993 with two stores in BC. Since then, it has expanded rapidly and is now Canada’s largest Asian supermarket chain with 36 stores across the country: 14 in BC, 7 in Alberta, 13 in Ontario, and 2 in Quebec. The Company’s continuous expansion is going to bring more new stores in the next couple of years.
The Role: Reporting to the Seafood Department Head (or his/her delegates), the Seafood Cutter is responsible for preparing various seafood products in advance for customers to choose from. The position also requires stocking seafood products onto display cases in the sales area, following the FIFO principle, providing excellent customer service by fulfilling customer requests, and maintaining inventory and workplace cleanliness.
- Major Responsibilities: Maintain inventory and product quality, follow the FIFO principle, if applicable; ensure the full display of various seafood products
Follow procedures to process expired products and manage shrinkage
Prepare various seafood products for sales activities, pack, label, and display them in the display coolers, including but not limited to catching, gutting, descaling, cutting, and washing
Greet customers by providing good customer service with a smile and friendly enthusiasm
Assist customers in selecting seafood products and provide recommendations to them, as required
Maintain workplace cleanliness, wash relevant work areas, and ensure that working tools are clean and well-kept
Keep storage area, display cases, and walk-in coolers clean and tidy
Familiar with the location of various seafood items; keep self up to date with all Seafood Department promotional activities
- Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements: Flexible to work in shifts, including weekdays, weekends, and morning and evening hours, as well as statutory holidays
Able to use seafood cutters and other tools in a safe manner
Be prepared to stand for long periods and handle seafood products (live and frozen), including lifting products weighing up to 40 pounds on a regular basis
Be prepared to work in low temperature (0–4 ℃), freezing temperature (-18 ℃), and wet environments for extended periods of time
Not allergic to handling seafood products
Knowledge of basic work safety
Relevant experience in handling seafood products is preferred
