Role and Facility Information

The Royal Columbian Hospital is seeking one full-time obstetrician and gynecologist. The successful candidate will join a group of 10 other OBGYNs and would be expected to participate in the on-call roster for the high-risk obstetrics unit. It is expected that the successful candidate will provide office consultation for high-risk obstetrical cases, as well as a general gynecology practice. A candidate with experience in complex obstetrical surgical procedures would be preferred, such as cesarean myomectomy and placenta accreta spectrum disorder cases. Our group has diverse interests, with subspecialists in urogynecology, minimally invasive surgery and maternal fetal medicine; we are a cohesive, reliable and enthusiastic group. Participation in quality assurance, medical education and department administration services would be expected.

The Royal Columbian Hospital is a tertiary care general medical and surgical hospital including a tertiary care perinatal unit. The obstetrical model of care includes primary care led by family doctors and midwives; the obstetrician group provides shared care, consultation and high-risk obstetrical care. The obstetrical program is supported by maternal fetal medicine.

As a member of the Fraser Health medical staff, the successful candidate will participate in the University of British Columbia (UBC) medical education program and is expected to apply for a clinical faculty appointment in the Division of Obstetrics & Gynecology, UBC.

We will review applications from USA ACOG board certified physicians as well.

Currently the Royal Columbian Hospital obstetrics unit has over 3,000 deliveries per year. We are associated with a 24 bed NICU unit. A hospital redevelopment is underway to be opened in April 2026 with a brand-new perinatal unit modeled around single room maternity care and a dedicated surgical and anesthesia service. The Royal Columbian Hospital is one of the busiest hospitals in British Columbia. We have all the medical and surgical specialties as well as trauma and cardiac services. The Royal Columbian Hospital is the provincial centre for medically and surgically complex obstetrical patients.
