The Hamilton Sports Group (Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Forge FC) proudly supports healthy, active, and empowered youth across our community through youth football, youth soccer, health and wellness education, and social impact initiatives.

We are seeking two motivated, community-minded individuals with a genuine passion for sports who want to make a positive impact across Hamilton. As part of the Community Partnerships Department, interns will assist with key programs, events, and appearances for both the Tiger-Cats and Forge FC.

This role offers hands-on experience in professional sport operations, event logistics, and player relations. Interns will gain insight into how community engagement drives brand impact, partnership value, and youth participation in sport.

  • Program Dates: Monday, April 27, 2026 – Friday, November 27, 2026. In addition to regular business hours, candidates must be available to work all home games and community events, including evenings and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities And Duties

  • Administration & Systems
  • Process and fulfill all community donation requests and maintain accurate tracking in Asana and the Master Tracker.
  • Support player, alumni, mascot, and dance and cheer appearance scheduling, including coordination, materials, and follow-up documentation.
  • Assist in drafting event materials such as briefings, planning templates, and debrief summaries. Order and track inventory for community events, programs, and marketing assets.
  • Community Programming & Events
  • Support planning and execution of marquee community programs, including School Day Match, Be Fit, Youth Skills Camps and Play it Forward.
  • Assist in managing logistics for third-party events (fairs, parades, festivals, pop-up activations).
  • Participate in on-site event execution, including setup, registration, signage, player coordination, and teardown.
  • Lead or support Community Flag Distribution in June — an organizational-wide initiative that connects players to the community through flag deliveries and local engagement.
  • Work with community partners and organizations to strengthen relationships and deliver meaningful engagement experiences.
  • Attend community events and player appearances to represent HSG professionally and support live operations.
  • Player Appearances & Data Tracking
  • Support the coordination and documentation of player appearances for both teams.
  • Learn and use Asana and the Master Tracker to log appearance details, attendance, and hours.
  • Assist in compiling appearance data for the Community Impact Report and ongoing organizational reporting.
  • Communicate logistics (time, attire, key messages) and provide on-site support for players and mascots.
  • Learning & Development
  • Participate in a structured Week 1 Onboarding Program that introduces both community events and player relations workflows.
  • During Week 1, interns will train in all areas of community operations; by the end of the week, each intern will be assigned a focus lane based on demonstrated strengths and interests:
    • Community & Events Support Intern: Focused on event logistics, on-site activations, and storytelling.
    • Player Appearances & Data Support Intern: Focused on player scheduling, data accuracy, and reporting.
  • Receive ongoing mentorship, weekly team check-ins, and mid-season feedback to support growth and professional development.
Qualifications And Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfort working in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
  • Positive, team-first attitude with initiative and flexibility.
  • Previous experience in community relations, events, or athlete engagement is an asset.
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings for community events and home games.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle.

Requirements

  • Must be available for all 2026 Tiger-Cats and Forge FC home games and major community events.
  • Regular business hours + evenings/weekends as needed during event season.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and have a vehicle.
  • Must have Vulnerable Sector Check (within 1 year of start date)

Compensation

Interns will receive a $300 monthly stipend, with an additional $700 honorarium upon completion of their seven-month internship. Interns who complete a four-month internship will receive a $350 honorarium. Interns will be paid $95 for Hamilton Tiger-Cats games and $65 for Forge FC matches.
