We are looking for a Retail Business Development Manager with prior experience driving growth and profitability within the retail segment by developing strategic partnerships, expanding market share, customer base, and optimizing sales performance.

Reporting to the VP of Product, Marketing, Purchasing & Retail, you will be responsible for :

Strategic Growth & Market Expansion

  • Develop and execute retail business development strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Identify emerging market trends and opportunities within industrial distribution and retail channels.
  • Create a marketing plan for our retail stores in collaboration with all key stakeholders (i.e. Division Director’s, Regional Sales Director, Marketing, eBusiness, Product Department, etc) to help drive sales and execute on that plan
  • Collaborate with the marketing department on local campaigns, promotions, and in-store events.
  • Drive new account acquisition and strengthen existing partnerships to maximize revenue within existing or new market segments
  • Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead and mentor a team of sales associates, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Set clear objectives, monitor KPIs, and ensure accountability for results.
  • Conduct regular team meetings with store associates, conduct performance reviews, and coaching.

Client Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key retail partners and stakeholders.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and service agreements to ensure mutual profitability.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, providing insights and solutions tailored to their needs.
  • Conduct in-field ride-alongs with outside sales staff and in participate in fieldcustomer meetings to ask key questions (fact finding) on what they are looking for in a retail store, desired products, pain points, help convey the purpose and benefits of our stores to help drive sales, etc.
  • Build sales relationships with the field, and attend outside sales team meetings to better understand their realities

Financial & Performance Management

  • Develop annual sales forecasts and budgets for the retail segment.
  • Inventory Management including proper product forecasts, stock turns, and handling of expiration dates
  • Monitor performance metrics, analyze data, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Analyze sales data and market trends to formulate strategic decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements

What YOU Will Bring To This Role

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or related field- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in industrial distribution, retail sales, or business development.
  • Proven track record of driving revenue growth and managing both small and large accounts with the ability to meet or exceed sales targets.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills in a retail environment.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with all levels of an organization, both internally and externally.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects while creating authentic relationships with colleagues.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems (Microsoft Dynamics and SAP) and data analytics tools
  • Self-starter who can perform in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Keen self-awareness and alignment with a workplace culture that is built on humanistic values and continuous improvement.
  • Adept and interested in understanding business needs and working to achieve the company’s vision and goals.
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
