Category Specialist Co - op at Staples Canada

Please note that this position is open to students who are currently enrolled in a full ‑ time post ‑ secondary program.

Some Of What You Will Do

As a Co-op at Staples, you will be a fully integrated member of the team. This will allow you to participate in department and company events/meetings, get the opportunity to experience Staples as a full-time associate, and make an impact with the company through independent projects. For this co-op, you will Support the day-to-day inventory management for a specific product category, focusing on the ‘four P’s’ of Merchandising:

• Product Assortment
• Product Pricing
• Product Placement
• Product Promotion

Specifically, You Will

• Review and proof marketing materials for accuracy
• Participate in monthly Merchandise Department meetings
• Interaction with vendors, community and store associates across Canada.
• Assist with any special projects, supporting B2B or B2C business units.
• Identify opportunities to improve the merchandising experience leveraging all available insights.
• Leverage various analytics tools and provide insightful recommendations / process improvements, supporting our customer needs and business objectives.
• Receive constant support and performance feedback.
• Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands / Working Conditions

Hybrid (4 days per week in-office, 1 day remote)

• Work Term Duration: 4 months (May to August 2026)

Some Of What You Need

• Strong oral/written communication and interpersonal skills
• High attention to detail
• Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills
• Strong computer skills (i.e. MS Excel) and an ability to learn new software quickly is critical
• Experience in customer service and/or a retail store environment (or comparable experience)
• Enrollment in a post-secondary education program (i.e. Business or Supply Chain would be an asset).
