Inclusive Education Teacher at Prairie Mountain Health
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Education and a valid Teaching Certificate
- Eligible for and maintains licensure to practice as a Teacher in the province of Manitoba
- Three (3) years of professional experience with at least one (1) year in the guidance counsellor or resource teacher role.
- Province of Manitoba Class 5 Drivers License, and access to a personal vehicle to provide service within Prairie Mountain Health
- Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint), as well as Internet applications and other Information
- Willingness to complete within (1) one year and practice Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI)
- Willingness to complete within (1) one year and practice Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST)
- Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to work independently
- Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills
- Demonstrated flexibility to facilitate changes in techniques and procedures in a changing environment

POSITION SUMMARY
The Inclusive Education Teacher for the Child and Adolescent Treatment Centre (CATC) provides an education component within a multi-disciplinary treatment team. The incumbent participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of individualized academic programs to clients who are eligible within CATC programs and services. As a member of the CATC multi-disciplinary team, the incumbent will provide a broad range of education services to clients and their families.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Classroom supervision and teaching
- Academic Resource Development
- Documentation of student’s progress
- Consultation within CATC programs
- Participates in program staff meetings. Will be expected to provide feedback on programs and procedures as they affect the general functioning of the educational component.
- Keeps organized records of students’ individual academic progress for use in preparing reports.
- Prepares individualized academic material within the treatment program at any grade level and in any subject area.
- Independently carries out teaching activities in the classroom, such activities pertaining to subject content as individually designed or as provided by the client’s home school.
- Observes and reports behavioral changes of students within the multi-disciplinary team
- Responsible for checking absences of students from the classroom and monitoring student whereabouts during classroom time.
- Researches and develops new teaching materials and supplies.
- Generates clients’ daily assignments.
- Performs academic testing and provides feedback to client/parents
- Liaison with school personnel
- Other duties as assigned.
