The Opportunity
As an integral member of the team, the Hospital Leader will provide leadership to the organization after-hours. In your role you will support the multidisciplinary team, ensuring safe, quality care for patients and a safe environment for the staff. This will be achieved through your excellent decision making, problem solving and critical thinking skills. You will provide mentoring and guidance to facilitate the growth of our team. Your role will be on-site support and leadership as well as on-call support for the organization.
Qualifications
- Current registration in good standing with a recognized clinical governing college
- 3–5 years of acute care hospital experience
- Minimum 2 years of management or supervisory experience
- Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with physicians, inter-professional team members, and other stakeholders.
- Excellent critical thinking skills and ability to make decisions under pressure
- Demonstrated commitment to patient and staff safety, quality, and risk management
- Demonstrated ability to build teams and manage change
- Ability to engage and support all hospital staff in carrying out their roles and responsibilities
- Ability to work independently with strong organization and prioritization skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), Meditech Expanse
- Experience in unionized environment with knowledge of collective agreements
- Bachelor’s Degree or Health Care degree an asset
Duties & Responsibilities
- Monitor activity indicators and make staffing decisions aligned with nurse-to-patient ratios and care needs
- Oversee staffing requirements in collaboration with the Staffing Office
- Ensure safe, efficient patient flow by coordinating bed management, transfers, repatriation, and discharges
- Act as a liaison across hospital departments to remove barriers to care delivery
- Liaise with external providers to support patient transitions
- Ensure compliance with patient safety practices and procedures
- Report, investigate, and follow up on adverse events and near misses, including disclosure as required
- Conduct accident/incident investigations, debriefs, and complete required Health & Safety inspections

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts with after hours on call. Weekends, 10-hour shifts with after hours on call.
Wage: $53.90 - $64.02 per hour plus applicable shift premiums for evenings and weekends.
