Catering Product Analyst at Air Canada

The Catering Product Analyst supports the design, development, and execution of inflight catering product and inflight meal services. This role plays a key part in enhancing the customer experience by contributing to menu innovation, supplier management and cross-functional project delivery, while ensuring alignment with brand standards, operational feasibility, and rigorous cost targets. A key component of this role includes maintaining accurate product documentation and ensuring clear, timely communication with all internal and external stakeholders to support seamless execution.
The ideal candidate for this position is highly organized and disciplined, with a strong ability to manage tasks efficiently and maintain attention to detail. Additionally, they possess excellent communication skills and proven ability to adjust quickly to shifting priorities, navigating multiple changes with agility and focus.
Responsibilities
Product Development and Implementation
Support the development and refresh of onboard menus across all cabin classes (Economy, Premium Economy, Business Class).
- Assist in the creation of product concepts, including meal components, snacks and special meals.
- As required, support meal presentations by meticulously documenting selected meals and specifications.
- Communicate menu changes, product updates and operational requirements clearly to all relevant stakeholders, including frontline teams and catering partners to ensure seamless transition.
- Own the review, accuracy and final approval of printed and digital menu content.
- Coordinate product audits, tasting and validation sessions with internal stakeholders and catering partners.
Documentation & Information Management
Maintain accurate and up-to-date internal documentation, including product specifications, menu cycles, supplier information, and operational guidelines.
- Proactively identify opportunities to streamline administrative and reporting processes through the use of macros, automation tools, templates, and process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
- Ensure all product changes are properly documented and communicated in a timely manner to relevant stakeholders.
- Support the creation and maintenance of centralized repositories for catering information to improve accessibility and consistency.
- Track version control and ensure alignment between documented standards and deployed products across the network.
- Continuously look out for ways and tools to improve menu information management processes and increase efficiencies.
Supplier & Catering Partner Management
Act as a day-to-day, reliable point of contact for Suppliers and Catering Partners.
- Support onboarding of new suppliers, including product submissions, documentation, and compliance requirements.
- Lead monthly calls with suppliers to communicate product updates and ensure alignment across the network.
- Facilitate the prompt resolution of daily catering queries, supply shortage or other issues reported by vendors or stations.
- Monitor supplier product performance.
Pricing Management & Financial Support
Own and maintain multiple catering partners and suppliers’ pricelists to ensure billing accuracy.
- Execute timely updates to pricelists following a menu or spec change and apply annual contractual CPI as applicable.
- Work closely with partners and billing team to reconcile and resolve any discrepancies.
- Oversee ad hoc supplier invoicing, ensuring adherence to contractual terms, budget assumptions, and corporate policies.
- Review spend analysis periodically to identify cost anomalies, drivers, and improvement opportunities, escalating issues and driving corrective action plans with Procurement and Finance.
- Support cost analysis and product benchmarking activities.
- Assist with preparation of business cases for new product initiatives.
Actioning Product Feedback
Act as a liaison to ensure feedback from operations and customers is captured and reflected in product adjustments.
- In collaboration with Product team, IFS and Ops, review and analyze customer and crew feedback on catering services to improve offering and address any areas of concern or opportunities for enhancement.
- Assist with corrective action follow-ups related to product quality or service issues.
- Monitor closely to ensure issues have been resolved successfully.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of relevant work experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field ( business admin, marketing, etc).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret large data sets, identify trends, and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to balance customer experience, operational feasibility, and financial objectives.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and adapting quickly to evolving business needs and operational changes.
- Able to travel domestically and internationally as required.
- Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working with data management, reporting tools, or process automation is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with macros, workflow automation, or process improvement tools within Microsoft Excel or similar platforms is considered an asset.
- Experience working cross-functionally with Operations, Procurement, Finance, and external vendors, is considered an asset.
- Airline industry experience is an asset.
- Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset.
