3M is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for its Manufacturing Plant located in Perth. The successful candidate will make an impact by ensuring departmental and plant goals around Safety, Quality, Service and Productivity are met and will be responsible for daily engineering support to production throughout the plant.

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a, Mechanical Engineer you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Initiate, identify, recommend, and oversee programs to improve safety, quality, and cost

  • Lead small to medium scale capital projects as they relate to Safety, Quality, Service, Productivity or New Product Implementation/Production.

  • Provide daily engineering support to optimize and improve plant Safety, Quality, Service, and Cost.

  • Participate and lead Process and Productivity Improvement,

  • Perform and guide technical activities leading to innovative application and extension of existing or new products/technologies.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering (completed and verified prior to start)

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Degree in Engineering, with studies in Mechanical or Electro-mechanical Engineering preferred

  • Experience or familiarization with extrusion technologies, including material handling, compounding, die coating, and web handling will be an asset

  • Strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills in automation and industrial processes

  • Good programming skills in PLC, AutoCAD/Solidworks

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, self-motivation, superior computer skills, and excellent technical aptitude

  • Demonstrated proficiency in project management

  • Experience with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing processes and tools

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng), possession of a Limited License or enrollment in the Engineering Intern Training (E.I.T.) program.

Travel: In this role, you will be required to travel approximately 5% of the time, which may involve overnight stays. A valid driver’s license is required.

Relocation: Not authorized

The expected compensation range for this position is $77,016-$94,130, which includes base pay and variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
