About the role

We are looking for a Business Improvement Advisor, to provide vital support, training, and coaching to embed business improvement initiatives and foster a Lean culture within our organization. You will actively participate in Lean Six Sigma breakthrough projects, contributing to the enhancement of a department or function at BC Works.

Reporting to the Business Improvement Manager, you will be:

  • Working safely in accordance with Rio Tinto's health, environment, safety and community standards and promoting our "injury-free" culture
  • Partnering with leaders to identify opportunities, scope and lead strategic continuous improvement initiatives
  • Facilitating workshops to drive effective execution aligned with the business improvement strategy
  • Embedding Lean, Lean Six Sigma, and Rio Tinto's Safe Production System to optimize performance
  • Coaching leaders and building continuous improvement capability across the organization
  • Delivering training for business improvement tools and methodologies using training standards and material
  • Leading change, removing execution barriers, and ensuring sustainable outcomes
  • Participating and leading audits, supporting compliance with standardized processes, systems and tools

About you

  • At least three years of progressively responsible experience leading and implementing business improvement or operational excellence projects in an operational setting.
  • Proven expertise in Lean methodologies, change management, strategy and planning, or project management.
  • Ability to engage and communicate with diverse stakeholders, including public speaking and facilitating workshops.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to work independently, adapt to changing circumstances, and provide leadership.
  • Skilled in leading through influence to ensure successful, on-time delivery of initiatives.
  • Ability to identify continuous improvement opportunities and drive effective change.
  • Practical experience with Lean and/or Six Sigma tools, such as Kaizens, Root Cause Analysis, and Practical Problem Solving.
  • A tertiary qualification in Engineering, Technology, Business, Finance, HR, or a related field. Individuals with at least a high school diploma with extensive relevant industrial experience may also be considered.
  • Lean Six Sigma certifications (completed or in progress)

The base salary range for this role is $103,200.00 – 154,800.00 CAD in addition to allowances, bonus, equity, health or retirement benefits, and any other discretionary benefits offered at Rio Tinto. Our base salary ranges are based on role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by the skills, experience, and impact you bring to the role.
