Job Summary & Key Responsibilities

A part-time academic is required to teach ITAL 1000.03: Italian for Beginners I (Section 1) – Fall Term 2026 (September 1, 2026 – December 31, 2026). Currently Scheduled: MW 13:05 – 14:25.

Introduction to the basic structures of Italian, combined with practical vocabulary for oral and written communication. This course aims to develop all language skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing), by integrating grammar study, oral and written exercises, and situational contexts. The course also includes an introduction to Italian culture.

The part-time academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including admission, lectures, test preparation, evaluation, and electronic submission of grades. Instructors are expected to maintain reliable and constant communication with the administration of the Department, to be available for two hours per week for consultation with students, and to have students fill out the evaluation questionnaire at the end of the course.

Qualifications/Requirements of Position

Applicants should have native or near-native fluency in English and Italian and possess a graduate degree in a relevant area. Candidates should demonstrate strong teaching skills, including communicative and student-centered language teaching approaches, grammar instruction, commitment to student learning, and a strong sense of personal responsibility. Previous teaching experience at the post-secondary level will be an asset.
