Intern, Quality Assurance at Seaspan ULC
Through the National Shipbuilding Strategy (NSS), the Government of Canada has embarked on one of the largest procurement projects since the Second World War. The NSS is a nation-building effort to create a sustainable Canadian shipbuilding industry, secure long-term job opportunities and build the next generation of ships for the Canadian Coast Guard and Royal Canadian Navy. Through its NSS–related work, Seaspan Shipyards is owning the redevelopment of our domestic shipbuilding industry on the West Coast and delivering on the promise of ships built in Canada, by Canadians.
The Intern, Quality Assurance (QA), will work in the Quality Assurance (QA) Team. They are responsible for maintaining and improving the Seaspan Quality Management System, ensuring compliance to ISO 9001 requirements to keep our certification current. This internship will provide exposure to all the areas in the organization since QA works across all departments such as Engineering, Supply Chain, Project Management, Production and Quality control. We are responsible for ensuring functional processes and procedures are developed, followed, and maintained. This includes oversight of Seaspan Shipyards core QA processes such as Documented Information, Audit Management, Management of Change, Management Review, Managing Nonconformances and Risk Management.
Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.
What you’ll do
- The primary function of the role will be to support the Quality Assurance Team in the undertaking of Inspection Test Plans, shop order audits, data collection, and process development
- Learning QA processes and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborating with planning, execution, and support for QA processes, interacting with other Quality teams, and other functions in the organization.
- Providing an innovative approach to the evaluation of plans for inspection requirements and their management.
- Improving document control procedure.
- Supporting the analysis of applicable building strategies.
- Collaborating on setup and preparation for inspections required by QC as needed, at the discretion of the Manager.
What you’ll bring
- Enrollment in the 2nd or 3rd year of a post-secondary degree program.
- Strong interest in Quality/Project Management disciplines.
- Demonstrated awareness and basic understanding of ISO 9001 requirements and certification process.
- Proven critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and prioritization practices.
- Excellent analytical skills to gather, analyze, and process large amounts of data.
- Innovative thinking skills, with the resourcefulness to get to the source of truth.
- Exemplary integrity and honesty in all situations.
- Strong communication (written, verbal, and body language), interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Excellent knowledge of the English language, verbal and written, with proven understanding.
- Skilled in the MS Office suite.

We require a full-time commitment Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week with an hourly rate of $28.00/hour.
Start Date of Internship: Tuesday, September 8th, 2026.
End Date of Internship: Friday, December 18th, 2026 (4-Months).
