The Opportunity

McElhanney is offering an exciting opportunity for an aspiring leader to become an Engineering Division Manager of our Terrace office. This role is ideal for someone who’s built a strong foundation in consulting and is now looking to lead a multidisciplinary team, shape business strategy, and make a lasting impact in a thriving community.
As the Civil Engineering Division Manager in Terrace, you’ll be empowered to grow your leadership skills while guiding a team of professional engineers, EITs and civil design technologists, while working alongside other civil, structural, survey, environmental engineers and biologist environmental teams. You’ll take ownership of project delivery/design, client relationships, and business development- supported by a collaborative network of regional experts and corporate resources. What You’ll Do
- Lead and grow our Terrace Civil Engineering Division, guiding business operations, team development, and the delivery of impactful infrastructure projects throughout the region.
- Build and strengthen client relationships while identifying new opportunities to expand our presence and services across Northwest BC.
- Mentor and support a talented team that currently includes a Professional Engineer, two Engineers-in-Training, and two Civil Design Technologists, fostering technical excellence and professional growth.
- Provide leadership throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring high-quality deliverables, strong client satisfaction, and successful financial performance.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across McElhanney- including civil, structural, environmental, survey, and biology specialists in Terrace, Kitimat, Prince Rupert, Smithers, and our other offices across Western Canada- to deliver innovative solutions project variety/resources and share expertise.
- Serve as a visible leader within the community, building relationships with clients, Indigenous communities, local governments, industry partners, and other key stakeholders.
- Help shape the strategic direction of the division and play a key role in its continued growth and long-term success.
What You’ll Bring
- A degree in Civil Engineering and registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in British Columbia, or eligibility for registration. We also welcome applications from experienced Senior Civil Engineering Technologists with relevant expertise.
- 6+ years of progressive consulting engineering experience, including project leadership and team development.
- Experience building client relationships and contributing to business growth within the civil infrastructure, municipal, mining, resource, or related sectors.
- A track record of successfully leading multidisciplinary teams and delivering high-quality projects.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, staff, and stakeholders.
- A collaborative leadership style, entrepreneurial mindset, and passion for mentoring others and helping teams succeed.
What Can We Offer You?
The salary range for this position is $105,000 - $155,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
