Biochemist – AI Data Trainer

About The Role

What if your biochemistry expertise could help shape the next generation of AI? At Alignerr, we partner with the world's leading AI research labs to train and refine cutting-edge scientific models — and we need PhD-level biochemists to help us do it.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role where your deep knowledge of protein folding, metabolic flux, enzyme kinetics, and molecular genetics directly improves how AI reasons about life science. No AI background required — just rigorous scientific thinking and a passion for getting the details right.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Design Challenging Problems — Create advanced biochemistry problems spanning nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, structural biology, and drug-target interactions to stress-test AI performance
  • Author Gold-Standard Solutions — Write rigorous, step-by-step technical responses that serve as benchmarks for high-level scientific reasoning in AI systems
  • Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical proofs for technical accuracy, scientific validity, and safety
  • Refine AI Reasoning — Identify logical errors such as incorrect stoichiometry, flawed stereochemistry, or misapplied enzyme kinetics, and provide structured feedback that directly improves model performance

Who You Are

  • Advanced Degree: PhD (completed or in final stages) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field
  • Domain Expertise: Strong foundational knowledge in one or more of: structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, bioinformatics, or molecular genetics
  • Analytical Writer: Able to communicate complex biological and chemical concepts clearly and precisely in written form
  • Detail-Oriented: High precision when reviewing chemical equations, molecular diagrams, reaction mechanisms, and experimental protocols
  • No prior AI or machine learning experience required

Nice to Have

  • Experience with data annotation, evaluation, or quality assurance workflows
  • Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST
  • Background in scientific writing, peer review, or technical editing

Why Join Us

  • Work on high-impact AI projects alongside top research labs and scientists
  • Fully remote and async — work on your own schedule from anywhere
  • Freelance perks: autonomy, variety, and meaningful scientific contribution
  • Gain firsthand exposure to how advanced large language models are trained and evaluated
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension
