Are you a hardworking, safety-conscious individual with equipment operation experience? Our valued client, Ignition Marine, is seeking a Shipyard Labourer / Forklift Operator to support daily shipyard operations, vessel maintenance, and material handling. In this dynamic, hands-on role, you will be the operational backbone of the shipyard. You will assist expert mechanics, operate forklifts safely to maneuver vessels and materials, and ensure the facility remains organized, clean, and compliant with environmental and safety regulations.

What You Will Do
You are the operational support keeping the shipyard safe, clean, and moving efficiently. Specific responsibilities include:
- Material Handling & Equipment Operation: Safely and efficiently operate forklifts and other approved material-handling equipment to move vessels, materials, parts, and equipment; Perform general labour duties, including loading, unloading, lifting, and transporting tools and supplies throughout the shipyard.
- Vessel Support: Assist trades personnel with daily operations. Support vessel haul-outs, launches, blocking, yard movements, cleaning, detailing, pressure washing, and preparation activities.
- Facility Maintenance & Organization: Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the shipyard, workshops, warehouses, storage areas, and work sites. Assist with seasonal yard improvements and general facility maintenance.
- Inventory & Waste Management: Assist with inventory handling, receiving shipments, and organizing parts. Collect and safely dispose of waste materials, scrap, debris, and hazardous materials in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations.
- Safety & Compliance: Conduct routine inspections of forklifts, equipment, and work areas, immediately reporting any safety concerns or deficiencies. Follow all company safety procedures, WorkSafeBC requirements, and environmental regulations, and support emergency response activities to maintain a safe environment for everyone.

You are a reliable, energetic team player who thrives in an active, outdoor industrial environment and takes pride in a well-organized workspace.
- Experience & Certifications: Previous experience as a general labourer in a shipyard, marina, construction, or heavy industrial setting is highly preferred; Valid forklift operation certification is required.
- Physical Readiness: You are capable of heavy lifting up to 50 lbs, material handling, and performing physically demanding work. You are comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Safety-First Mindset: You possess a strong awareness of occupational health and safety standards and environmental regulations.
- Teamwork & Professionalism: You have a collaborative attitude and a willingness to assist multiple trades personnel to ensure projects are completed efficiently and on schedule.
- Dependability: You are punctual, detail-oriented during equipment inspections, and capable of maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
