The Support and Development Center provide services to Agnico Eagle's various Canadian and / or international mining operations in a variety of areas, including administration, financial services, IT, supply chain, human resources, communications, construction as well as technical services (geology, engineering, metallurgy, infrastructure, marketing, innovation, and digital transformation).
YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE
Reporting to the Superintendent, Infrastructure of the Technical Services group, you will be involved in the engineering studies. Your primary responsibilities will include the preliminary design of infrastructure as well as the coordination of activities related to surface infrastructure. The main types of infrastructure for which you will conduct studies include dikes, dams, tailings storage facilities, ponds, stockpiles, access roads, water management infrastructure, pumping systems, and other mining-related infrastructure. You will also participate in cost estimation, support operational projects, and contribute to various innovation initiatives. This role requires ongoing collaboration with other Technical Services departments.
Specifically, you will:
- Take ownership of the study phase for infrastructure projects (planning, organization, implementation, and follow-up), while meeting specific objectives;
- Contribute to the preparation of technical studies (preliminary, prefeasibility, and feasibility);
- Perform sizing and preliminary design of technical components related to mining infrastructure;
- Compare different solutions through technical studies outlining advantages, disadvantages, costs, and schedules;
- Identify requirements for equipment, materials, contractors, consumables, and labor necessary for project execution;
- Design and supervise the development of plans required for bidding or construction;
- Prepare requests for proposals and manage the procurement process.
- Participate in fieldwork and monitor project progress;
- Prepare progress reports for projects under your responsibility;
- Review and approve drawings and specifications you are involved in, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations;
- Perform any other tasks related to engineering and the mining sector.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Geological Engineering (geotechnical specialization);
- Be a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO);
- Have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in civil or geological engineering (geotechnical specialization);
- Possess relevant experience in the mining industry;
- Have a good working knowledge of software such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, Word, etc.;
- Demonstrate interest in learning modeling software such as Civil3D, Leapfrog, GeoStudio, and Muk3D;
- Proficiency in both French and English, spoken and written, as the role involves collaboration with various Agnico Eagle sites where these languages are used in the workplace.
- Knowledge of Spanish is considered an asset.
Your Work Schedule
- Schedule: 40 hours per week, from Monday to Friday. Possibility of 5-2-4-3 schedule;
- Workplace: Possibility to work in one of Agnico Eagle’s offices closer to your residence in Rouyn-Noranda, Val-d'Or, Mirabel or Toronto. There is a possibility to have a hybrid work schedule, working some days from an Agnico Eagle office and some days in telecommuting.
