What You Will Do

  • Participate in the development of fire protection solutions with the sales team
  • Provide insights on strategy, vendor selection, scope enhancements, value engineering, risk assessment, and other activities to drive project success
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of fire protection solutions, applicable codes and standards, constructability, maintainability, and customer-supplied requirements
  • Support and oversee project objectives with design and project execution teams
  • Identify and resolve challenges that may arise during project delivery

How You Will Do It

  • Collaborate with Sales and Operations Leadership, as well as other teams, to support project development early in the lifecycle, including strategy, vendor selection, scope enhancements, value engineering, and risk assessment
  • Provide direction to project execution teams, which may include engineers, designers, technicians, project coordinators, estimators, and subcontractors, ensuring projects are completed accurately, on time, within budget, and within scope
  • Identify and resolve issues in complex industrial fire detection projects, including environmental and code-related challenges
  • Interface with design teams, contractors, vendors, and field personnel to ensure successful delivery of fire and life safety systems (fire and gas detection, alarm, suppression, and life safety integration)
  • Perform design coordination and quality control on assigned projects; collaborate with clients and consultants throughout the project lifecycle
  • Coordinate with CAD support technicians to prepare detailed technical submissions, including schematics and drawings; oversee preparation of system operation documents, calculations, and submission packages for medium- to large-scale systems
  • Review drawings, specifications, and change orders; participate in pre- and post-design meetings and customer coordination meetings; complete or validate calculations to ensure compliance with codes and standards
  • Support commissioning scope reviews, startup activities, and project turnover processes
  • Ensure compliance with NBC, BCBC, ULC S524, S537, S1001, and NFPA requirements throughout the project lifecycle (design, fabrication, testing, and commissioning)
  • Review completed submissions for equipment application, compatibility, and compliance; approve bills of materials (BOMs) to support construction

What We Look For

  • Degree in Engineering or a diploma in Building Technology, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in project engineering, project controls, or related roles, with a focus on fire and life safety systems (industrial, commercial, or institutional sectors)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of NBC, BCBC, ULC S524, S537, S1001, and NFPA standards; ability to interpret customer scope, specifications, design drawings, codes, and standards to identify compliant solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and external vendors
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, CAD, and 3D viewers (e.g., Navisworks), as well as Microsoft Office and data visualization/reporting tools; ability to develop and interpret dashboards
  • Eligibility to work in Canada, with the ability to travel as required

Preferred Qualifications (Nice To Have)

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada, or eligibility; additional certifications (e.g., CFPS, PMP) are a plus
  • Knowledge of HAZOP processes, hazard classifications, electrical safety, and fire/life safety across various environments (e.g., hazardous locations, healthcare, high-rise, industrial)
  • Familiarity with QA/QC processes, commissioning, turnover, and handover documentation for fire protection systems
  • Field experience delivering fire and life safety projects from design through commissioning in a Canadian context
