Position Summary

This is a Maintenance Cleaner position under the direction of the Operations Manager. Ensuring all work is being done safely in accordance with the TD Station JHSC, the Workplace Violence and Harassment course, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Worksafe NB Guidelines. To perform duties as required to ensure the building and the grounds are kept in a safe, clean, and organized manner.

This role pays an hourly rate of $19.24 (per CBA).

Responsibilities

  • To be able to complete routine daily tasks unsupervised.
  • Keep the Arena Level hallways/open spaces, dressing rooms, offices, garbage room, laundry, floors, doors, elevator, and under bleacher safe, clear, and clean daily. Periodically required to run a floor scrubber on the Concourse and Arena level floors and the Ice Deck in the off season.
  • May be asked to clean and maintain other areas such as the main lobby, administrative offices, Box Office by Operations Manager or with supervision of the Facility Technician, the mechanical and electrical rooms.
  • To maintain the outside grounds of the building, include the general cleaning, painting, lawn mowing, trimming, and any other duties to ensure the proper upkeep of the facility.
  • In the winter season, to ensure the walkways and stairways are kept clear and free of hazards.
  • Fulfill the tasks assigned on Game/Event Day such as setting skirted tables and chairs, pipe and drape, and other requests as required by other departments or the clients.
  • Operate and assist in maintaining components of the Facility fleet: and/or specialized equipment such as Forklift, Ride on Scrubber, Tractor, Golf Cart and Truck.
  • Safely operate Forklifts for shipping / receiving, moving items essential for conversions, elevating staff in Man Cage or moving items around the property as required. May also include Production or Convention equipment if needed.
  • To assist the Building Attendants in Ice Maintenance such as filling or moving Ice Resurfacers but does not include resurfacing the Ice, setting Plant schedules, taking Ice Plant or Mechanical readings.
  • Tasks such as changing light bulbs, clearing toilets and sinks, fixing ceiling tiles etc, fall under both Maintenance Cleaners and Building Attendant descriptions however Mechanical Maintenance specific to the Building Attendants OR Facility Technician is out of the Maintenance Cleaners scope such as Heat Pumps, Filters, Ice Plant, Daily Readings etc unless directed by Operations Manager or Facility Technician. In that case the Maintenance Cleaner will be compensated.
  • Assist with other minor tasks requested by the Building Attendants, Concessions, Custodial or Event Staff if required or requested by the Operations Manager.
  • May be required to assist in Conversion or custodial duties in the event of an emergency, shortage of staff, or extreme scheduling circumstances.
  • Maintenance Cleaner will be required to assist with installing the ice by cleaning the Ice Deck with the floor scrubber and scraper prior to and either Mixing Paint and or sealing the paint during the install. They will be required to clean the areas where paint, chalk, or excess water is following the installation.
  • Maintenance Cleaner will be required to assist Facility Technician with the removal of melted ice/paint upon the removal of the Ice.
  • While under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Maintenance Cleaner will be responsible for his own schedule pending inclement weather in order to remove risk to patrons and staff by means of snow removal, sanding and salting sidewalks and stairs.
  • The Maintenance Cleaner will be responsible to log sand and salt usages, maintaining inventory of sand, salt, shovels, fuel and general maintenance of the tractor and snow blower.
  • They will also be responsible for directing Snow Shoveling crews brought in by the Operations Manager as required throughout the season to ensure the stairs and entrances remain as ice free and clear as possible. Additional compensation will be given while directing the Shovellers.

Qualifications

  • Able to work regular hours, weekends and evenings when required.
  • Physically fit to perform labour duties and to be able to work in seasonal outside conditions.
  • Grade 12 High School Diploma
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and proper forklift, MSDS, First Aid/ CPR certificates
  • This is a full time unionized position and will follow the terms and condition as laid out in the Working Agreement of C.U.P.E Local #3985
