Dámbü Tän Kets'ádań Kų̀ – Cliff Trail Elementary is a brand-new, state-of-the-art Kindergarten to Grade 7 school that honours students’ developmental stages and cultural identities, fostering a strong sense of belonging. Through responsive and inclusive teaching practices, we support every learner in achieving their highest academic potential.

Located on the traditional territory of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council, our school serves Whistle Bend—a rapidly growing and culturally diverse community. As the neighbourhood’s first school, Dámbü Tän Kets'ádań Kų̀ brings together families, staff, students, and community members to build strong relationships, deepen belonging, and nurture the next generation of learners.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or equivalent, with eligibility for teacher certification in Yukon;
  • Coursework and/or Training in Counselling or Special Education for students requiring behaviour and academic support;
  • Working with Elementary aged students in a school counselling setting;
  • Demonstrated ability to apply the Neurosequential Model in Education (NME) and school-based Ready to Learn practices to support student regulation, engagement, and readiness to learn (would be considered an asset);
  • Experience teaching Health and Career Education (would be considered an asset).
  • Demonstrated expertise in case management, including the development, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of Competency-Based Individual Education Plans (CB-IEPs), Student Learning Plans (SLPs), and Behaviour Support Plans, with evidence of measurable student progress (would be considered an asset).

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:

Candidates should have and may be assessed on their:

  • Ability to include and support Educational Assistants in the implementation of Individual Education Plans, Behaviour Support Plans and Safety Plans;
  • Strong classroom management that includes implementation of social/emotional pedagogy;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills working with students, parents, administration, other staff members, consultants and related agencies;
  • Ability to use a range of technology, including assistive technology;
  • Ability to teach within any elementary classroom if needed;
  • Knowledge of positive behaviour support, preventative practices and replacement practices, resiliency, the restorative justice framework, trauma-informed care to help guide student learning;
  • Ability to integrate experiential learning and adaptive programming to better meet the special needs of students when required;
  • Knowledge of & sensitivity to culture and aspirations of Yukon First Nations and a Culturally-diverse student population.

Additional Information

  • To be a Teacher in Yukon, you must hold a Teacher Certification in another Canadian province/territory first;
  • Successful applicants will be required to undergo a Criminal Record Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Relocation may be available.
  • Qualified applicants for teacher vacancies shall be hired based Article 49 Teacher Priority Hiring of the .
