Position Summary
Under the Associate Dean, School of Business, Hospitality, and Media Arts, the Academic Services Assistant ( ASA ) provides a wide variety of executive secretarial duties and administrative services for the department including document preparation, which may include writing and typing of; correspondence, technical documents, proposals and reports; researches material for the Dean and Associate Dean; assembles information for presentation; ensures matters requiring action are routed appropriately; maintains record keeping and filing for the department.
The Academic Services Assistant, as the first point of contact, ensuring visitors and staff are made to feel welcome and that their needs or questions are addressed in a timely, professional manner. The incumbent is responsible for day-to day requests from students, faculty/staff, the Associate Dean and Dean.
The ASA may provide functional support to Academic Service Assistants in other academic departments of Confederation College.

Has excellent organizational & planning skills; works independently with minimal supervision and as an effective team member. Has good conflict resolution and problem solving skills and the ability to make day-to-day decisions as required. Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills.
Utilizes strong keyboarding skills demonstrating knowledge in a Windows environment (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.); Internet, Outlook; and knowledge of internal College programs: Intranet, Banner SSB , Banner INB , Millennium, Student Evaluation Database, Visa Reconciliation System and College Website.
Previous experience in the educational field and knowledge of administration support in an academic environment would be an asset.
