Senior Internal Control Specialist

We are ready to take this game to the next level and are looking for a Senior Internal Control Specialist that is accountable to support the ongoing monitoring and continuous improvement of OLG’s Internal Control Framework to ensure compliance with OLG’s internal control policy and alignment with internal, regulatory, and industry standards

YOUR ROLE IN THE GAME

Reporting to the Director Internal Control Framework, Policies & Processes, you will be empowered to:

  • Work with the Senior Internal Control & Governance Managers to execute activities related to the improvement and monitoring of OLG Internal Control Framework which includes documenting, testing and reporting results of process control reviews and assessments.

  • Contribute and/or support the design, execution and completion of testing of Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR), IT controls and/or other areas in scope.

  • Monitoring the control environment by working with senior managers to prepare the issuance of the semi-annual internal control sub-certification process in a timely manner and ensuring relevant key controls are kept accurate and up to date.

  • Support the preparation, coordination and assessing of risk and control documentation to support the Certificate of Assurance process.

  • Proactively monitor compliance with government directives, supporting the review of new or updated directives and policies. and identify and report issues.

  • Support the Senior Managers in collaboration with Risk, Compliance and Internal Audit to leverage GRC software for Internal Control Framework activities, reporting and tracking.

  • Assist in educating and training employees on the Internal Control Framework and their respective responsibilities through presentations and meetings

  • Develop and maintain Internal Control Framework subject matter expertise through research, courses, seminars, and professional networking to stay abreast of industry leading practices

  • Support strategic assignments, ad-hoc programs and projects as required

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE GAME

Education & Experience

  • Post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field

  • Professional accounting, audit or finance designation

  • Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in the finance or audit and risk domain.

  • Experience in ICFR testing is an asset, along with exposure to IT audit or IT governance
