Grade 8 or 9 French Immersion Teacher at School District #8 (Kootenay Lake)
Trafalgar Middle School is looking for a Grade 8 or 9 French Immersion teacher (all subjects) to join our high functioning team. Enrollment totals in French 8 and French 9 will determine the final assignment for this position. Every effort will be made to communicate this information to the successful candidate by July 1, 2026.
The successful applicant will have demonstrated successful classroom experience in an intermediate classroom. It is expected that the successful applicant will work with and follow the school-based team plans for inclusion of all students, behavior expectations, and continue to implement whole school wide programs related to school and district strategic plans.
The awarded applicant will be energetic, collaborative and organized individual and is committed to student learning. The successful candidate is expected to plan, prepare and present curriculum related to intermediate grades and apply current pedagogy to support student success.
Teachers applying for this position must possess the following skills and attributes:
- Strong interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills
- Willingness to work collaboratively with students, colleagues, administration, and parents
- Excellent classroom management skills
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible
- Implement and direct programs of inclusion for all students
- Demonstrated skills in current pedagogy and practice
- Implement whole school programs, and expectations
- Contribute to building a positive school culture
- Demonstrated experience working with School Based Teams to enhance student learning
Required qualifications
Fluency in French (oral and written) is required for this specialized position
Bachelor of Education (Middle or Secondary) with a degree/major/specialization or diploma in French (Immersion; Second Language; etc)
A valid BC teaching certificate and current membership in the Teacher Regulation Branch;
