$68,028.89 - $77,100.40 annually
BC Timber Sales (BCTS) is a unique program of the Ministry of Forests. Working collaboratively with regional and district operations, BCTS plans, develops, and auctions a substantial portion of the province’s annual available timber volume. BCTS operates as a for profit entity within a government organization.
The BC Timber Sales Cariboo Chilcotin team is an established and collaborative group that works together across harvesting, silviculture, engineering, planning and First Nations referrals to support sustainable forest management and healthy future forests. The Silviculture team includes experienced forestry professionals who are committed to sharing knowledge, supporting one another, and creating an inclusive environment where employees can learn and grow. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to work that supports rural communities, environmental stewardship and the long-term sustainability of BC’s forests.
This role with BC Timber Sales offers the opportunity to work across many areas of operational forestry, including contract development and monitoring, road inspections, harvest conformance, and digital data management. The work directly supports sustainable forestry practices and helps create timber sale opportunities that contribute to local economies and communities.
Qualifications for this role include
- Graduation with a diploma or a degree in resource or forestry management.
- Registered with the Association of British Columbia Forest Professionals (ABCFP) as a Registered Forest Technologist (RFT) or Registered Professional Forester (RPF) AND a minimum of two years of experience in operational field forestry activities, OR
- Enrolled, or eligible for immediate enrollment, with the Association of British Columbia Forest Professionals (ABCFP) as a forest professional in training (TFT, ASTFT, FIT, ASFIT), for the purpose of obtaining an RFT or RPF designation AND a minimum of four years of experience in operational field forestry activities.
- Operational field forestry activities include one or more of the following: Timber harvesting cut-block development, Forest road engineering, Silviculture, Harvest operations, Compliance and enforcement.
- Must possess at minimum a valid Class 5 B.C. Driver’s License that does not limit or restrict the ability to conduct the duties of the job.
