Horizon Health Network in beautiful New Brunswick is looking for a Manager of Medical Device Reprocessing to join our team!

Horizon Health Network (Horizon) is seeking a dependable, energetic, and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Manager of Medical Device Reprocessing for Zone 3. Reporting to the Regional Director of MDR, the MDR Manager is responsible for managing and leading all daily reprocessing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Region Hospital, Oromocto Public Hospital, and Upper River Valley Hospital.

Who you are

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business or health-related discipline with relevant experience. Equivalent practical experience may also be considered
  • 3-5 years progressive management experience, with demonstrated abilities in program management implementation, human and fiscal resource management, and public relations
  • Successful completion of a recognized MDR course or willing to enroll in the course within 6 months of hiring.
  • Excellent project/process management skills and overall time management skills
  • Ideally MDR or Operating Room experience
  • Ability to deal with others effectively
  • Process improvement experience considered as a strong asset
  • Experience managing and conducting attendance and performance assessments of a team

Written and spoken competence in English is required at an advanced level.

What you will do

The MDR Manager will act as the liaison with other departments to meet the needs of our customers as well as dealing with our external vendors. The MDR Manager will collaborate on project responsibilities and other operational activities with the other MDR managers and will be an active member of the regional MDR team.

The MDR Manager is responsible for ensuring all CSA standards are met as well as responsible for implementing corrective actions following Infection and Prevention Control (IPC) audits, holding the team accountable to follow up on corrective actions and CSA standards.

This position is a member of the Horizon Medical Device Reprocessing team and will be located at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital.

Your key responsibilities are

  • Managing daily work activities of the MDR department through developing work plan/schedule, providing leadership and coaching, supporting training, and developing opportunities, establishing priorities assigning work accordingly.
  • Evaluating employee performance, oversee attendance management program, determining training and orientation requirements, monitoring compliance with quality assurance testing, and providing input to the manager as required.
  • Conducting policy and SOP audits and providing feedback/coaching MDR employees for improvement.
  • Holding MDR staff accountable for results involved with retraining and/or discipline of employees as required.
  • Ensuring staff achieved CSA certification as per established work plan.
  • Reviews existing internal procedures and updating them as needed.
  • Working collaboratively with other MDR managers to update departmental standards and procedures.
  • Maintains a safe work environment by ensure safety practices and procedures are adhered to.
  • Monitoring and maintaining inventory of equipment and supplies by performing duties such as making recommendations for changes to stock levels, reorder points, and adjusting as necessary.
  • Maintaining a library of equipment and supplies catalogues and place orders in conjunction with the buyer/purchaser.
  • Leading process improvement projects to improve productivity in MDR department.
  • Overseeing the setup and maintenance of the OR case cart system by verifying loaner medical device set/equipment are complete, received, processed, and returned.

Special Requirements

  • Successful candidate must actively pursue continuing education in this field on an annual basis.
  • Must be able to travel to Oromocto and Upper River Valley on a regular basis.
