SE Design has a career opportunity for an Engineering Project Manager in our Cold Lake, Alberta office.
Position Description
- We are seeking a motivated individual with a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in civil engineering or consulting, including at least 5 years in a project management role.
- The Engineering Project Manager will lead and oversee the delivery of civil engineering, geotechnical, geomatics, and infrastructure projects across Alberta.
- This leadership role will provide experienced engineering and technical support to help ensure successful project delivery.
- The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, leadership ability, and a commitment to quality, safety, and client satisfaction, particularly on projects involving municipal infrastructure and First Nations communities.
- This role will involve periodic travel between the Cold Lake and Sherwood Park offices to support project implementation and execution.
Position Duties
- Oversee and participate in the design and approval of civil engineering works, including grading, stormwater management, underground utilities, and surface improvements associated with municipal projects, in accordance with provincial and municipal standards.
- Participate in scheduling field and office activities, estimating, tendering, contract administration, and inspection for municipal infrastructure and road projects.
- Collaborate with the SE Design project delivery team to communicate scope, schedules, and expectations to team members.
- Provide guidance, training, and mentoring to SE Design’s engineering and field teams.
- Support business development and client management activities, including maintaining client relationships and assisting with proposals and marketing initiatives.
- Manage project financial activities, including billing, client communication, revenue tracking, and invoice review.
- Coordinate staff and sub-consultants for planning, legal survey, environmental, and other consultant services.
- Anticipate client questions or concerns, proactively address potential project impacts, and help ensure on-time delivery and client satisfaction.
- Demonstrate the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond effectively to time-sensitive issues with strong time management and leadership skills.
- Facilitate team meetings to support efficient, effective, and timely project delivery.
- Participate in the implementation and maintenance of SE Design’s safety program and COR certification.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in civil engineering or consulting, including at least 5 years in a project management role.
- A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited institution. P.Eng. eligibility or registration with APEGA would be an asset.
- Familiarity with provincial and municipal standards for civil works, including current design standards and technical specifications. An understanding of geomatics or geotechnical engineering principles would be considered an asset.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong project management and coordination skills.
- A valid Class 5 driver’s licence with a minimum of 4 years of verified Canadian driving experience.
- Positive work ethic and adaptability across a variety of projects.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and typical engineering software.
