Acting Server Administrator (1.0 FTE Temporary - 12-Month Contract)
The Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board’s IT Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Server Administrator. Reporting to the Manager of Information Technology, the Server Administrator coordinates and maintains the Board’s servers, virtualization infrastructure, digital storage, scripting, active directory, cloud services, data protection, and disaster recovery routines.
The ideal candidate will possess a degree or diploma in Information Technology or a related field, in conjunction with relevant IT certifications, training, and have expertise in a broad range of technologies. Experience installing, servicing, maintaining, and supporting servers and related hardware is required. Experience supporting networking technologies, such access points, switches, and firewalls is considered a strong asset.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Hardware & Infrastructure Management: Installing, servicing, and maintaining servers and related hardware.
- Security & Patching: Apply OS patches, manage access control (Active Directory/IAM), and ensure compliance with internal security baselines.
- Backup & Disaster Recovery: Maintain, test, and execute data backup schedules and recovery plans.
- Teamwork: Contributing to IT projects and staying current with emerging technologies and best practices.
- Customer Service: Providing responsive on-site and remote technical support.
- Networking: Supporting, monitoring, and troubleshooting network connectivity, switching, firewall, VLAN, and wireless infrastructure issues.
This role requires regular travel within the city. A valid G-class driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle are mandatory.

Salary Range= $72,663 to $92,047
