QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade 12 education (MB Standards)
- Post-Secondary Administration/Accounting certificate or diploma from a recognized institution
- Two (2) years of current accounting experience
- Other combinations of suitable education and experience may be considered
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles
- Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint), as well as Internet applications and other Information Technology
- Knowledge of computerized accounting systems, office procedures and equipment used
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory ability
- Demonstrated ability in maintaining effective interpersonal working relationships required
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills required
- Demonstrated sound organizational skills, and the ability to work independently
- Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated professional and personal commitment for professional development, lifelong learning and continuing education

POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Financial Coordinator and the Regional Manager Finance, the Financial Assistant is responsible for finance month end and year end processes within Prairie Mountain Health. The Financial Assistant functions in a confidential capacity in matters relating to labour relations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Overview
- Provide reasonable and efficient operation of the financial system.
- Assist in month end processing, reconciling, and reporting.
- Responsible for regional invoicing, regional cash receipts and the operating bank reconciliation.
- Responsible for the maintenance of the region’s visa cards and collection of credit card receipts and entries.
- Responsible for the input of financial, statistical and budget information.
- Provide financial reports and justifications as required.
- Assist the Financial Coordinators with financial variance analysis.
- Assist with preparation of the year-end audit working paper files.
- Prepare and maintain analysis and reconciliations, as required.
- Sundry duties as assigned.
