General Description
The Site Manager sets the culture and leads the operational team in a healthy, safe and environmentally responsible manner, aligned with the corporate vision, mission and values. The role is responsible for all aspects of running a successful business including health and safety, regulatory compliance, sales, operations, finance (including capital planning), human resources and support services. The Site Manager will report to the District Manager and collaborate on targets, objectives, and safety measures. As a Site Manager, the minimum responsibilities are:
- Fostering an environment that promotes the vision and culture of the organization
- Leading the safety culture, specifically aiding in the development and delivery of programs and initiatives to personnel and enforcing safety policies
- Managing operations, administrative and regulatory staff including conducting annual reviews, competency assessment, skill development, performance management, etc.
- Developing and enforcing standard operating procedures, providing training and monitoring staff for compliance
- Ensuring compliance with all government and environmental regulatory standards
- Ensuring excellent customer service standards in coordination with Field Sales team
- Develop and implement procedures and systems for employees to operate in a safe, efficient, and cost effective manner.
- Full P&L responsibility - Budget development, active revenue and cost forecasting/tracking.
- Develop relationships and liaise with key partners in municipal government e.g., mayor, waste division. Understand landscape, deal with emerging issues and address environmental and waste concerns.
What We Need From You
- Post-secondary degree, preferably in business or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
- A valid Class 5 driver’s license
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in solid waste collection/waste hauling operations
- A minimum of 5 years’ leadership experience in a management or supervisory position
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Must be able to pass all pre-employment requirements
