The Marketing and Communications team provides full-service marketing support to the Division. Our work is anchored by four core areas of focus: brand building, student engagement, revenue growth, and Public Relations & internal communications. We develop and execute integrated marketing strategies that reach students, families, staff, faculty, alumni and other key stakeholders — informing, persuading, and engaging them at every stage of their relationship with the Division. Our work spans the full marketing mix, including digital and print advertising, social media, content production, event marketing, media relations, store fronts and signage, direct marketing, and promotional campaigns.
Responsibilities
The Digital Marketing Associate contributes to the creation and maintenance of online presence across the Division’s service areas, including Housing Services, Hospitality Services, and Retail Services.
This role works under the supervision of the Director, Marketing & Communications, who will assign tasks, review deliverables, and overarching operational direction. The incumbent will be required to:
- Provide marketing and communications support to the Housing and Ancillary Services portfolio
- Update and maintain website content to support seasonal promotions
- Plan, develop, and distribute monthly eNewsletters
- Plan promotional campaigns and develop accompanying assets, including, but not limited to, billboard, signage, digital boards, and posters
- Develop shoot plans and storyboard for promotional videos and photography
- Plan, develop, and revamp websites, including mapping web structure, writing copy, and working with designers and HASWeb team to build and launch websites
- Plan and develop digital marketing campaigns
- Develop training materials and facilitate onboarding sessions for new hires
- Perform other tasks and participate/lead projects as required
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in marketing, communications, photography, film/video production, visual arts, or a related field or equivalent practical experience is required
Experience:
- 3 years of related experience in marketing, communications, and content creation
Skills, Abilities & Expertise:
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to generate workable and creative ideas, concepts and techniques
- Compelling and persuasive communication skills to engage individuals and teams inside and outside the University
- Ability to analyze metrics and consider past communications to craft engaging written communications using social media or other appropriate channels
- In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms and digital tools (i.e. Google Analytics, Google AdWords, Facebook Advertising), as well as how they can be deployed in different scenarios to drive brand awareness and service promotion
- Strong project management skills with an ability to execute creative and cost-effective marketing and communications projects
- Ability to maintain a number of projects simultaneously with competing timelines and priorities
- Advanced computer skills with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Adobe Premiere), Microsoft Office Suites, etc.; strong understanding of web analytics tools (i.e. Google Analytics), Search Engine Optimization, etc.
- Superior demonstrated presentation skills with the ability to deliver creative content (copy, image and video)
- Ability to grasp future trends in digital technologies and act proactively
- Results oriented with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and on own initiative
- Proven ability to build both formal and informal professional relationships within, across, and external to organizational boundaries
- Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams
- Ability to work within a flexible schedule to accommodate the University’s events/activities and travel on occasion
