As a Resident Support Worker/Custodian (RSW-C) at KGM, you oversee frontline activities, ensuring a safe environment for individuals experiencing homelessness. From assisting clients with basic needs to supporting their transition, you play a vital role in upholding our core values of respect and dignity. Your contributions have a profound impact on the lives of those we serve, embodying the essence of our organization's mission and values. Bay Ave operates an Overdose Prevention Site with supervised consumption.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate shelter activities that promote well-being and community engagement
  • Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the shelter, adhering to health and safety standards
  • De-escalate conflicts and ensure the safety of all residents
  • Provide compassionate support to residents and maintain accurate client records.
  • Assist with general housekeeping duties and managing residents’ belongings

Position Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-months experience in social work or related field;
  • Completion of High School Diploma as a minimum;
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Teams, and other relevant platforms;
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, encompassing active listening, conflict resolution, and negotiation, to build strong relationships within the team and with external partners.
  • This position is dependent on a Criminal Records Check (Vulnerable Sector)
