Maintenance Technician at IREN

The Maintenance Technician is a member of the Operations department and reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor. This position is responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of critical mechanical systems supporting data center infrastructure. The role is essential to maintaining uptime, reliability, and efficiency of cooling and backup power systems, while adhering to all safety policies and procedures.

  • Proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook with the ability to navigate the internet and utilize electronic timecards
  • Be self-motivated, reliable, flexible & proactive with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Availability to work various schedules and hours including evenings, weekends, and possibly nightshifts
  • Ability to work in a variety of indoor and outdoor industrial settings; including adverse weather conditions and at heights
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects and work in challenging conditions
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with leadership and colleagues
  • High energy and confident individual with demonstrated organization, prioritization and critical thinking skills as well as proven active listening skills

Other Important Requirements

  • A clear Criminal Record Check is required
  • Must provide own steel toed work boots, all other PPE supplied
  • Must be able to reliably commute to the operations site daily or have plans to relocate before starting work
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair issues with rooftop exhaust which includes:
    • Motor and belt removal/reinstall including pulley alignments and belt tension verifications
    • Retorque fasteners to correct spec
    • Insulation resistance testing on fan motors to ensure safe operation and prevent unexpected failures
    • Diagnose worn/wearing out bearings and replace
    • Removal/replacement of fan unit
  • Heavy equipment servicing/repairs such as fuel filter replacements, breakdown repairs depending on severity, and inspections to ensure safe operating conditions
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance activities, such as changing filters, waste bins, upkeep on a variety of equipment, landscaping, building upkeep and inspections.
  • Operate heavy equipment such as telehandler, forklift, skid steer, aerial boom lift and sand/plow truck to lift, transportation of equipment or materials (e.g., pallet placement).
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems followed by formulating and implementing short-term and long-term solutions.
  • Ensure all work is conducted in a safe and efficient manner according to guidelines and regulations.
  • Assist with other facility repairs and special project execution.
  • Support the Supervisor in the development and implementation of short- and long-term maintenance programs and standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities and equipment to identify potential issues and make repairs as needed.

Compensation

  • The hourly rate of pay for this position is $36.50/hour
  • Total package may be inclusive of a night shift premium for rotational shift positions
