Reporting directly to the Director of Governance, Corporate Secretary and Privacy Officer (the ‘Director’), the Privacy & FOI Compliance Manager (the ‘Manager’), guides, supports, and leads a team to ensure the Privacy and FOI department meets regulatory and organizational requirements that span the privacy data governance lifecycle. This role sits at the intersection of legal, risk management, and data governance, translating complex regulatory requirements into operational controls, design standards, and privacy protocols. The position is accountable for implementing Providence Care’s privacy data governance framework, including design controls/protocols/ standards, that inform privacy enablement and appropriate data access to reliable and valid data that is findable, interoperable, accessible, and reusable for program/service design, delivery and decision-making. The Manager plays a key role in optimizing resource utilization, improving workflow and outcomes, and supporting alignment of work with organizational priorities, departmental standard operating procedures, and legislative obligations. The Manager also contributes to developing organizational privacy maturity by fostering a culture of innovation and continuous quality improvement methodologies. The Manager will be responsible for overseeing departmental needs and work-flow navigation according to strict deadlines. The Manager actively engages in collaborative decision-making processes with the Director; in consultation with directors, managers, and other corporate resources as appropriate.
The Following Positions Will Report Directly To The Position
- Privacy Compliance Analyst (1); and
- Privacy Auditing and Investigations Analyst (1)
Education & Experience
- Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Health Informatics, Social Sciences, Statistics, or related field
- Five to seven years of management experience, interest-holder management, strategic communication, and an ability to translate between clinical, business, and technical audiences.
- Minimum three years’ leadership experience in a healthcare environment.
- Technical expertise including risk assessment, audit methodologies in both Privacy, AI, FOI, and data governance and lineage tracking, compliance monitoring platforms.
- Experience in the implementation of large-scale organizational change
Position Duties & Responsibilities
- Collaborates closely with the Director to design, edit, operationalize, and maintain Providence Care’s privacy data governance framework that aligns privacy deployment with legislative requirements and corporate policies, to oversee and manage workflow; and in collaborative decision-making processes
- Actively engages with the Director to support the operationalization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) implementation at Providence Care
- Responsible to provide leadership of the Privacy and FOI department’s team of personnel by establishing an appropriate work environment, maintaining sound management methodologies and standard operating procedures, ensuring adequate resources and support, and addressing issues promptly and effectively to deliver privacy data services to internal and external clients
- In collaboration with the Director, estimate the resources needed to achieve departmental goals; determine and assess need for additional personnel and/or consultants and staff accordingly during department life cycle
- Work in collaboration with the Director to develop annual portfolio budget, where appropriate
