Position Summary

Northern Health is looking for an experienced, highly efficient, and self-directed Administrative Assistant to support the North Community Care Program department.

In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, this position is responsible for providing administrative support functions such as secretarial duties, monitoring expenditures, and providing input into the development and evaluation of programs, policies, procedures and standards for the programs and Manager. May supervise administrative support staff.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Monday to Friday, Days - 08:30 to 16:30

Qualifications

  • Grade 12. Office Administration Certificate. Recent, related experience of three years; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience; or other qualifications determined to be reasonable and relevant to the level of work.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to type 50 wpm.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality and tact.
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology is an asset.
  • Ability to operate required equipment including Video Conferencing equipment, proxima and Dictaphone/transcriber equipment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (i.e.: Word, Excel, Access and Outlook).
  • Business writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize.
  • Knowledge of general office procedures.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients and co-workers.
  • Ability to supervise.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve problems in a professional manner.
