Business Data Process Engineer at Affinity

On behalf of our public-sector client, Affinity is seeking a Business Data Process Engineer to support our enterprise measurement & experimentation team. The successful candidate will play a key role in connecting business processes with meaningful data measurement practices, identifying gaps in our current metrics registry, and supporting the standardization of enterprise measurement practices across the organization. The successful candidate will collaborate across business units to document business processes, particularly related to metrics, identify where and how measurement occurs, and align those measures with our enterprise metrics registry and broader metrics inventory.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business units to document and analyze current-state business processes using standard process mapping techniques.
  • Identify and document measurement within processes, highlighting gaps or inefficiencies.
  • Cross-reference each process with the enterprise metrics registry to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment.
  • Map measures from the metrics registry to the enterprise metrics inventory, capturing key attributes such as: oversight, automation, targets, ownership etc.
  • Map relationships between measures, including: hierarchies, dependencies (inputs, outputs, outcomes), shared data sources, etc.
  • Identify measurement gaps by role and recommend improvements to ensure all levels of the organization have visibility into relevant metrics.
  • Collaborate with business, data and analytics teams to improve how measures are integrated into workflows and aligned with enterprise strategy.
  • Contribute to a growing library of standardized documentation to improve enterprise measurement consistency.
  • Support evidence based business process design by modeling and testing alternative scenarios
  • Translate business needs into implementable process changes
  • Partner with analytics, data, and business teams to ensure business process changes and decisions are grounded in reliable data and measurable outcomes.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Industrial Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related field
  • 3–5+ years of experience in process improvement, measurement strategy, or business analysis
  • Proven ability to map and document complex business processes and supporting measures
  • Experience with process and data visualization tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart, Miro, Power BI)
  • Strong understanding of enterprise performance measurement principles and practices
  • Strong understanding of data analytics and measurement (KPIs, Metrics) is strongly preferred and an asset.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and navigate complexity in a large organization.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience in performance measurement, experimentation design, or evaluation.
  • Knowledge of measurement frameworks such as logic models or KPIs linked to operational outcomes.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
  • Experience in complex, data-rich environments such as financial services, healthcare, or government
