Purpose of Job

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Merchandising Planner - Components Category to join our merchandising team. This role will leverage data analytics and quantitative modeling to optimize sales, margin, and inventory performance within Components category. The Merchandising Planner will manage vendor partnerships, forecast category performance, monitor inventory health, and drive promotional strategies that align with customer demand and market trends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop data-driven category sales forecasts, using statistical models and trend analysis to support business planning.
  • Monitor inventory health, including aging stock, sell-through, and RMA/return rates, and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Perform quantitative analysis of cost structures and margins to support pricing, promotional, and profitability decisions.
  • Negotiate with vendors for promotional support, backend funding, and partnership programs (MDF, Co-op, VIR, SR, etc.).
  • Collaborate with the legal team to review and finalize vendor agreements.
  • Design and implement promotion plans based on historical data, vendor collaboration, and market intelligence.
  • Maintain and expand strong vendor relationships to drive category growth.
  • Track and report on key category KPIs such as margin %, inventory turns, forecast accuracy, and promotional ROI.
  • Keep abreast of Computer Components industry trends, competitive dynamics, and new product developments to identify business opportunities.
  • Support cross-border merchandising and supply chain initiatives for international market expansion.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis and reporting to support leadership decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Supply Chain, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 1-5 years of experience in merchandising, procurement, supply chain, or related analytical roles.
  • Strong skills in data modeling, forecasting, and quantitative analysis for category and financial performance.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, data modeling); experience with SQL, Python, or BI tools (Tableau/Power BI) a plus.
  • Knowledge of cost structures, pricing models, and margin optimization.
  • Experience in vendor negotiations and backend funding programs.
  • Familiarity with computer hardware, particularly CPU, Motherboards, Memory, SSD, HDD, computer chassis, power supplies etc.), preferred.
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Mental & Physical Function

Mental Functions: Decisions may affect a work unit or area within a department. May contribute to business and operational decisions that affect the department. This position performs a variety of routine duties within established policies and procedures or by referral to supervisor's guidelines.

Physical Functions: Sitting required 90% of the time. Walking and standing required 5% of the time respectively. No heavy lifting required. Constant keyboarding and telephone usage.
