Position Details

The Housing department invites qualified applicants to apply to the Campus Life Housing Coordinator position.

This position will be responsible for:

  • Providing leadership to student staff in a variety of positions and levels of responsibility. This includes responsibility for hiring, training, supervising, coaching, and providing direction to the ORS Student Executive, Residence Assistants (RAs), and Operations Team. The primary goal of our student staff is to develop and foster engagement and socialization, while maintaining the standards and safety of the community.
  • Working collaboratively with campus and community partners, colleagues in the field, and the ORS Council to develop and implement initiatives, resources, and spaces that address our residents’ most prevalent needs and barriers, particularly in the area of personal and community well-being, including physical health and safety, social, and environmental dimensions.
  • Working collaboratively with two other peers in the same position, administrative assistants, social media coordinators and various other Ancillary Services employees.
  • Executing our behavioural management model, as per the Residence Community Handbook, from reporting and fact-finding to discipline and resolution.
  • In conjunction with the Community Assistants, Residence Assistant on Duty (RAD), Security Services, Counselling Services, and the Health Centre, intervening in, responding to, resolving, and escalating situations of varying seriousness as they arise. Examples include but are not limited to COVID regulation violations, mental health concerns, injuries, floods, and fires.
  • On-call duties, which are on a rotation of one week on-call and two weeks off call, alongside the other two peers in the CLHC role. This three-week rotation requires you to be available

Position Qualifications

  • An undergraduate degree and 1-3 years of leadership experience. Residence life experience in post-secondary education would be considered an asset.
  • Understanding of and knowledge in enhancing and maintaining physical spaces, but most importantly, be sensitive to the challenges today’s post-secondary students face
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives and priorities
  • Ability to demonstrate self-motivation
  • Independent and collaborative judgment
  • Leadership, communication, organization, budgeting, planning, and time management skills
  • The successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
  • A valid unrestricted Class 5 Driver’s License with no more than 6 demerits and submission of a motor vehicle record (driver abstract) dated within 3 months of the posting close is required.

Starting Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE)

$56,371.45 - $70,915.18 annually

Full Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE)

$56,371.45 - $85,458.92 annually (APO - Grade 2)
