Crossing Guard at School District #62 (Sooke)
CROSSING GUARD
ONE POSITION AT JOHN MUIR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.
7.5 hours per week. (45 minutes before and after school)
QUALIFICATIONS AS PER JOB DESCRIPTION.
Completion of Grade 12 plus up to one month experience or training with an experienced crossing guard.
Patience with, and care for, students and a demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.
An ability to work well with other adults.
A desire to help children.
Self-assurance and a well-modulated voice with the ability to speak fluently and communicate well.
Appreciation of the confidential nature of all information relating to students, parents and teachers.
- Completion of Adult School Crossing Guard Workshop Booklet.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Principal
SUPERVISES: N/A
JOB GOAL: To assist in providing a well-organized, supervised school environment.
Performance Responsibilities: Ensure student safety at school crosswalks including the ability to manage behaviours of children/adults.
Monitors students before, during or after school, making sure the school grounds are clear and all students leave the property.
- Completes discipline reports to the school PVP in a timely manner
4. Dispenses first aid supplies (e.g., band aids, ice packs)
5. Reports traffic violations and other community behaviour within the community.
6. Performs other assigned duties that are within the area of knowledge and skills required by the job description.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten months.
RATE OF PAY AS PER THE COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT. $29.00
