$80K - $90K CAD
Full-Time
Hybrid - Oakville, Ontario
June 17, 2026
Position Details
BITSUMMIT is hiring a Financial Controller to own the day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls of a fast-growing IT and AI consulting firm. This is a hands-on leadership role: you will run the full finance function, close the books, and give leadership the numbers they need to make confident decisions.
You will work directly with the partners and operations team, bringing structure and discipline to billing, cash flow, and reporting across multiple projects and managed-services engagements. We are looking for someone who is precise, self-directed, and comfortable building process where little exists yet.
Responsibilities
- Own the full accounting cycle: accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, journal entries, and month-end and year-end close.
- Produce accurate, timely financial statements and management reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
- Manage cash flow, forecasting, and working-capital planning across projects and managed-services engagements.
- Oversee client billing, project profitability tracking, and revenue recognition.
- Build and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and documented procedures.
- Coordinate budgeting and variance analysis with leadership and project teams.
- Manage relationships with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors, and support HST and corporate tax filings.
- Maintain and improve the accounting system (QuickBooks or similar) and supporting tools.
Requirements
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including a controller, assistant controller, or senior accountant role.
- CPA designation (or in final stages of completion) strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of ASPE and full-cycle accounting, including month-end and year-end close.
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks or a comparable accounting platform, and advanced Excel skills.
- Experience in a professional-services, consulting, or project-based business is a strong asset.
- Solid understanding of Canadian payroll, HST, and corporate tax requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail, with the judgment to know what matters and the discipline to keep records clean.
- Self-directed and comfortable building process and structure in a growing company.
What We Offer
- A senior, high-trust role with real ownership of the finance function.
- Direct access to leadership and a seat at the table on business decisions.
- A hybrid schedule based out of our Oakville, Ontario office.
- Exposure to a fast-moving IT and AI consulting business across multiple industries.
- The opportunity to shape finance operations as the company scales.
