Junior Project Developer at Kruger Inc.
Overview
The role of the Junior Project Developer will be to support the identification and structuring of project opportunities in the renewable energy sector, with a view to achieving the company's strategic objectives.
In this role, as part of a multidisciplinary team, he/she will participate in the prospection, analysis, and selection of renewable energy projects, analyze calls for tenders, participate in the coordination of bids and other activities to support the project development team.
The selected candidate may be based in Montreal (head office) and must be able to travel within Ontario, or be based directly in Ontario.
Responsibilities
- Analyze elements that are essential to the viability of projects, including:
- Prospection and identification of project opportunities;
- Environmental considerations associated with the site’s fauna and flora;
- Permit requirements at the municipal, provincial or US State levels;
- Comparison of different production technologies and matching suggested models to site-specific requirements;
- Analyze the resource and site capacity determination;
- Legal agreements with public and private landowners;
- Layout plan for production equipment, roads, and collector network;
- Interconnection between the project and the power grid;
- Research on electricity markets and power purchase agreements for North American suppliers.
- Analyze calls for tenders, participate in and coordinate the preparation of bids;
- Develop timelines to monitor the progress of projects;
- Develop, analyze, and ensure compliance with budgets associated with a project’s various tasks;
- Work effectively as part of multidisciplinary project teams;
- Communicate with the various stakeholders and parties involved in the projects.
Requirements
- Degree in engineering (mechanical, civil, electrical, construction, or mining) or other relevant academic background;
- 1 to 3 years of work experience in engineering or project management (preferably related to renewable energy).
Skills And Abilities
- Autonomous while being an effective team player;
- Strong attention to detail and rigor in task execution.
- Curiosity and willingness to learn in a rapidly evolving sector;
- Occasional travel to project sites (short duration);
- Good knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Project);
- Experience with CAD and mapping software is an asset.
LANGUAGE
- Proficiency in English;
- Proficiency in French is an asset .
Knowledge of English is required for this specific position as Kruger deals with partners across North America and the successful candidate will be required to communicate frequently with them. Kruger has taken all reasonable steps to avoid imposing English language requirements, including assessing the actual language needs associated with the duties to be performed, ensuring that the language skills already required of other employees were insufficient for the performance of those duties, and limiting as much as possible the number of positions with duties requiring English language skills.
